Bring warmth, softness, and natural craftsmanship into your home with TAMPAH, a handmade lampshade made from fine raffia fibers.

The wide, wavy shape and refined braiding give TAMPAH an airy appearance. When the light is on, the raffia fibers gently filter the light, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere in the room.

With a diameter of no less than 53 cm, TAMPAH is a real eye-catcher above the dining table, in the living room, or bedroom. Its calm, natural look fits beautifully within a boho interior, but also combines just as easily with a modern or minimalist interior.

Soft light through natural braiding

The fine raffia fibers are hand-woven around a sturdy metal frame.

Due to the open structure, light can shine out between the fibers. This creates a warm light and a subtle play of light and shadow.

The metal frame ensures that the lampshade remains sturdy and retains its shape despite its light appearance.

TAMPAH is equipped with an integrated ring for the lamp holder, making the lampshade easy to hang.

Please note: cord, fitting, and light source are not included.

From palm leaf to raffia fibers

The raffia used by Soeji for these products comes from the leaves of the Gebang palm, which grows in the tropical and marshy areas of Indonesia.

The large fan-shaped leaves are carefully harvested and then cut into fine fibers.

Then the fibers are dried in the sun. This natural drying process helps to make the fibers stronger, after which they can be braided directly or further processed into cords for various handmade home accessories.

Raffia combines a light, soft appearance with sufficient strength to be used for artisanal braiding.

From raw material to lampshade

TAMPAH is handcrafted by experienced artisans in Bali, Indonesia.

The manufacturing process begins with manually shaping a metal frame. This frame determines the characteristic wavy shape of the lampshade and forms the sturdy base of the design.

Then, the finely cut and dried raffia fibers are carefully woven by hand into and around the frame.

This requires precision, patience, and experience. Because each lampshade is made individually, small differences in color, structure, shape, and finish may occur. It is precisely these variations that give TAMPAH its artisanal character.

Artisanally produced in Indonesia

Soeji states that it works with small family businesses of up to approximately 20 to 30 employees.

When selecting production partners, attention is paid to fair pay, safe working conditions, and reasonable working hours. The products are manufactured by adult and experienced artisans.

Older craftsmen who can no longer work in agriculture can also continue to use and pass on their traditional skills to the next generation within these companies.

Because many production steps are carried out entirely by hand, relatively little machine production is needed.
