Hand-woven on traditional looms

LINGGAH is handmade in Java by experienced artisans.

For this black version, the cotton yarn is first dyed to achieve the characteristic deep color. Subsequently, the artisans process the thicker yarn on traditional handlooms into a dense, sturdy fabric.

After weaving, the fabric is further finished into the final throw with the recognizable white zigzag detail and decorative fringes.

Due to the manual production process, small differences in texture, color, and finish may occur. These variations are part of LINGGAH's artisanal character and make each piece unique.

From cotton plant to yarn

According to the supplier, cotton from local farmers on Java is used for Soeji's products.

The cotton fields are naturally fertilized, and the cotton bolls are picked by hand. The cotton fibers are then separated from the seed pods, pressed into bales, and combed.

Afterward, the cotton is spun into yarn by hand before it can be processed by the artisans on traditional looms.

The cotton is chemically processed as little as possible. For this black version, the material is dyed to achieve the deep black color.

Artisanally produced in Java

LINGGAH is handmade in Java, Indonesia.

Soeji states that it collaborates with small family businesses employing a maximum of approximately 20 to 30 people. When selecting production partners, attention is paid to fair pay, safe working conditions, and reasonable working hours.

The products are made by adult and experienced artisans. Older craftsmen can also continue to use and pass on their traditional skills within these companies to the next generation.

Because many production steps are carried out by hand, relatively little machine production is required.

Gently hand wash LINGGAH in cold water or use the wool program of the washing machine.

Then air dry it in the shade.

Do not tumble dry. This will best preserve the deep color and natural texture of the cotton.
