Main material: banana fibers
Banana fibers are the fibers from the layered stems of banana trees used in agriculture. The intense brown color occurs naturally when the fibers are dried in the sun for about a week. Then, the individual strips are rolled into the characteristic, approximately 6 mm thick strands. Only old, dying banana trees are used for this material. This gives these crops a second life as a dimensionally stable and robust raw material for many handmade baskets here at Soeji.

Production location:
This wall decoration is handmade in Java, Indonesia.
In selecting our local producers, we value fair wages and good working conditions. Only adult and experienced artisans work in the companies from which we source our goods. No harmful chemicals are used in the production process. Because all work steps are carried out by hand, the production process generates hardly any greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and permanent personal contact with the companies.
