TENUN is hand-woven on traditional wooden looms.

From cotton plant to hand-spun yarn

According to the supplier, the cotton used for Soeji products comes from local farmers in Java.

The cotton fields are naturally fertilized, and the cotton bolls are picked by hand. After that, the cotton fibers are separated from the seed capsules, pressed into bales, and combed.

Next, the cotton is hand-spun into yarn.

This yarn is then processed by experienced artisans on traditional wooden looms to create the final fabric.

According to Soeji, the cotton is not chemically treated. This allows the material to retain its natural appearance and structure.

TENUN is handcrafted in Java, Indonesia.

Soeji states that it collaborates with local production partners, focusing on fair pay and good working conditions. The products are made by adult and experienced artisans.

According to the supplier, no harmful chemicals are used in the production process. Since many tasks are performed by hand, relatively little machine production is required.
